Saint Peter

Peter was a fisherman by the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called him: “Follow Me!” Peter was not perfect. Once he even said he did not know Jesus. But Jesus forgave him and said, “You are Peter, the rock, and on this rock I will build my Church.” Jesus gave him the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Peter became the first Pope, and today the Pope still leads the Church, just as Peter did.

Did you know? The name Peter means “rock”. Jesus gave Simon that name Himself.

Be like Peter: Pray for the Pope by name this week.

Saint Peter, pray for us!
