Saint Elizabeth of Hungary
a princess who fed the hungry · feast day 17 November
Elizabeth was a princess who lived in a castle, but she loved Jesus more than jewels and fine clothes. Every day she carried bread to hungry people, and she used her money to build a hospital where sick people were cared for. When she was still young her husband died, and she gave her life to serving the poor. Elizabeth showed that we love Jesus when we care for the people who need us most.
Did you know? A story says that once, when she was carrying bread to the poor in her cloak, it turned into roses!
Be like Elizabeth: Help put together food or clothes for a family who needs them.
Saint Elizabeth, pray for us!
