33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
Liturgical colour: GreenFor grown-ups
This Sunday is about the gifts God puts in our hands. Proverbs praises a woman who works with willing hands and opens them to the poor, and in Jesus’ parable of the talents a master trusts his servants with great treasure. Two of them use it and are told, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” The third, afraid, buries his gift. The point is not to be impressive but to be brave and generous rather than fearful.
In family life, every child and parent has something to give: a good singing voice, a knack for making people laugh, a patient ear. Look for those gifts in each other and name them out loud. This Sunday is also the World Day of the Poor, so it is a good moment to ask how your family’s gifts, and a little of your time or money, might reach someone in need.
