Saint of the week · the week of 17 January
Saint Agnes
a brave young girl who belonged to Jesus · feast day 21 January
Agnes lived in Rome long ago, when it was dangerous to be a Christian. She was only about twelve years old, but she had given her whole heart to Jesus. When people tried to make her turn away from Him, she bravely said no, and she gave her life for Jesus. Agnes shows us that even young people can be very brave and very holy.
Did you know? On her feast, two lambs are blessed in Rome, and their wool is used to make special stoles for archbishops.
Be like Agnes: Be brave and do what is right, even when it is hard.
Saint Agnes, pray for us!
