5th Sunday of Lent
“Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” John 12:21
Liturgical colour: PurpleFor grown-ups
This Sunday Jesus compares himself to a grain of wheat that has to fall into the ground before it can bear fruit. He is talking about his coming death and resurrection, while Jeremiah promises that God will write his love on our hearts and the psalm begs for a clean one. It all begins when some visitors ask, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.”
Children often learn to see Jesus by watching us. Family life is full of small seed moments: giving up the last biscuit, putting the phone down to listen, saying sorry first, helping without being asked. None of it feels big, yet this is how love grows in a home. Lent is nearly over, so this week is a good time to notice where your family is already giving a little of itself, and to thank God for the fruit that is quietly growing.
