Saint Thomas Aquinas
a quiet student who became a great teacher · feast day 28 January
Thomas was a big, quiet boy, and some classmates called him “the dumb ox”. But his teacher said, “One day this ox will roar, and the whole world will hear!” Thomas became a Dominican priest and wrote huge books explaining God and the faith. He also wrote beautiful hymns about Jesus in Holy Communion. Even though he was so clever, Thomas was humble and prayed before every lesson he taught.
Did you know? Thomas wrote the hymn “Tantum Ergo”, still sung at Benediction today.
Be like Thomas: Say a little prayer before you start your schoolwork.
