Saint Raymond of Penyafort
a wise priest who helped people be forgiven · feast day 7 January
Raymond was a Dominican priest in Spain, nearly eight hundred years ago. He was very wise and helped people understand God’s laws. Above all, he loved helping people say sorry to God and receive His forgiveness, and he wrote a book to help other priests do the same. Even when he was very old, he kept praying, teaching and helping. Raymond lived to be almost a hundred years old!
Did you know? A famous story says he once sailed across the sea on his cloak, using it as a sail!
