Saint Paul Miki and companions

brave Christians of Japan · feast day 6 February

More than four hundred years ago in Japan, many people became Christians after Saint Francis Xavier came to teach them. Then the ruler made it against the law. Paul Miki was a Japanese Jesuit and a wonderful preacher. He and twenty-five friends, including some boys, would not give up their faith, and they gave their lives for Jesus in Nagasaki. Paul kept telling people about Jesus to the very end, and he forgave the people who hurt them.

Did you know? For two hundred years, Japanese Christians kept their faith in secret, passing their prayers from parents to children.

Be like Paul Miki: Pray for the Church in Japan, and in every country in Asia.
