Saint Francis Xavier

Francis Xavier was a clever young man from Spain. His friend Ignatius asked him, “What good is it to have everything, if you lose your soul?” So Francis gave his life to God. He sailed for months across the oceans to India, Malacca and Japan, telling people about Jesus, teaching children their prayers and caring for the sick. He baptised thousands of people. Francis died on an island near China, still dreaming of telling even more people about Jesus.

Did you know? Francis visited Malacca, in Malaysia, several times, and the parish of St Francis Xavier there remembers him.

Be like Francis: Learn the name of one country, and pray for the people who live there.

Saint Francis Xavier, pray for us!
